BMSi Seminars are designed and directed by industry expert Carl R. Bogardus, Jr., M.D., a renowned radiation oncologist and past president of both ACR and ASTRO.
BMSi Seminars speakers include Susan Vannoni, MS, RT (R)(T), ROCC, President of Radiation Oncology Consulting, LLC, Jordan Johnson, MSHA, BSRT (R)(T), ROCC, Director of Compliance CruxQS, Jeff Carlin, BBA, COO Bogardus Medical Systems, Inc. and Teresa Parten, BSRT(T), Associate Director of Compliance.
Ms. Vannoni is a radiation therapist with years of experience auditing and working with radiation oncologists and their staffs. Ms. Parten’s impressive career history includes previous roles as a Chief Therapist, Radiation Oncology Manager and Staff Therapist.
Dr. Bogardus is the Professor, Clinical Director and Vice Chairman of the Department of Radiation Oncology at Oklahoma University Medical Center. He also has a career in business and consulting and is CEO of Bogardus Medical Systems, Inc. Dr. Bogardus’ primary interest has been the development of the Radiation Oncology Coding and Nomenclature System resulting in numerous publications and presentations relative to the socioeconomic aspects of radiation oncology. In 2000, Dr. Bogardus developed a commercial software product (“ONCOCHART”) to meet the needs of radiation oncology practices. Most radiation oncology billing done today follows the guidelines laid out in his many publications. He is past president of the ACR and ASTRO and is the only recipient of the Gold Medal for both organizations. He was elected FASTRO in 2006. Susan Vannoni is the President and CEO of Radiation Oncology Consulting. She performs audits of radiation oncology billing, coding and documentation procedures nationwide and has worked with Dr. Bogardus for a number of years. Susan has more than 35 years of clinical, management, and education experience in oncology and has served as the Director of Clinical Operations for an International Oncology Organization. Susan received her Masters Degree in Business from the University of Notre Dame, her Baccalaureate Degree in Education from Indiana-Purdue University and her Associates Degree in Radiologic Science from Indiana University. She is board certified both as a Radiation Therapist and a Radiographer.
Mr. Jordan Johnson is the Director of Compliance for Churchill Consulting a division of CruxQS. He has served 10 plus years in the radiologic profession with extensive experience in both the clinical, as radiation therapist, and administrative roles in academic and rural cancer centers. His education includes a Master’s in Healthcare Administration and a baccalaureate in Radiation Therapy (from MD Anderson) and a baccalaureate in Radiologic Technology (from the University of Louisiana at Monroe) plus his ROCC certification. He is a driven advocate for patients and the profession serving on various committees for the JRCERT, ASRT & ARRT, authoring numerous national publications, speaking at local, state and federal levels on various topics such as compliance, leadership, productivity, and advocacy and finally drafting legislation that ensures quality patient safety and care.
Jeffrey Carlin is the Chief Operating Officer at Bogardus Medical Systems, Inc. (BMSi), and has been in that position since 2003. Mr. Carlin has spent his entire career in Information Technology. After graduating from Hofstra University with a BBA degree and spending some time in the Army, he operated his own computer consulting business for 30 years. During this time, he and his team developed a state-of-the-art hotel reservations system that was sold to a major player in the industry. He also consulted with Fortune 500 companies and the Department of Defense for a number of years. Since joining BMSi, Carlin has focused on the radiation oncology medical specialty and products that are directed at IT solutions for industry issues. He is also a Certified MACRA/MIPS Healthcare Professional (CMHP) and actively consults on that subject.
Teresa works with customers to ensure compliance in their organizations.
Teresa states: “It is my goal to provide our clients with a systematic, objective analysis of billing, coding and documentation activities, and furnish recommendations concerning the activities reviewed to add value, improve operations and mitigate risk to an organization. I am focused on promoting current processes, tools and solutions as well as creating new avenues of business as market and client needs change. I support any activity that elevates quality and patient safety in Radiation Oncology and helps improve the patient experience so they can achieve the best outcome possible.”
